About us

Phoenix House is an 11 bedded supported accommodation which is situated within the Sandwell area. It is tranquil and spacious and has a large garden situated to the rear of the property.

We provide accommodation and support to service users who are experiencing mental health problems and are now able to live in a supported accommodation.

We have a small team of friendly and highly trained staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week, who are employed to offer sympathetic support and to provide complete attention to each individual need.

One of our aims is to create a friendly, warm and safe environment where our service users can participate and contribute in decisions affecting their daily lives. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit between 9am and 11pm daily.

Service users are eligible for the service if they have a mental health issue and are eligible for Housing Benefit.

Phoenix House is committed to ensuring fair access to all potential service users. Referrals are accepted from any individual who have experienced any kind of mental health problem, regardless of race, colour, gender, sexuality, or ethnicity. We also accept referrals from all our stakeholders.

An offer of accommodation and support is dependent on the results of a Risk Assessment conducted by our support staff and accompanied by up to date CPA and TAG from social services. We aim to deliver the necessary support package for the service user to meet their individual goals and aspirations.
Phoenix House is committed to promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for all our service users, while valuing diversity and differences in culture. We also operate a waiting list.

All our policies and procedure and other documents are also available on request in different languages where appropriate.

Quality of life and the dignity of our service users are among our major objectives. We understand that supporting our service users require constant attention and dedication to individual needs. Under the supervision of our support workers each service user will be supported during the settling in period, as well as continued high quality support while living at Phoenix House. One of our main aims is to support our service users to regain their independence. Family and friends play an important role in our service users’ well being, and we will offer encouragement and support to service users and all concerned parties.

We want Phoenix House to be your home and to be treated as your home. We support our service users in getting registered with a local GP but service users are supported to retain a GP of their choice if desired. In addition we provide support for service users in accessing external facilities such as Day Centre, other Rehabilitation Services, and assistance with Social Security and Housing Benefit issues. We also provide support in signposting service users to educational, training facilities, as well as getting back into work if this is desired.

A healthy and well balanced diet is of great importance to the well being of our service users, and we will endeavor to support service users in meeting their dietary needs. Support is provided to promote independence in the provision of meals to meet each service users’ individual need. Tea, coffee, cold juice and snacks are available throughout the day.

Indoor entertainment includes satellite television, compact disc player, videos/DVD, karaoke machine, pool table, darts, bingo, as well as an assortment of board games and other therapeutic activities. We also provide a range of visits and off site activities.

We provide single bedroom accommodation for each service user and 24 hours support by qualified staff. The home is equipped with central heating and fire alarms. CCTV and controlled access adds to the security of the home.

The support services are paid for through Sandwell Supporting People Grant. The accommodation services are paid for through Housing Benefit. A Service charge is payable each week by the service user.
